Our mission

TopoDOT Solutions empowers our user community to realize the full value of geospatial point cloud data for the planning, design, engineering, construction, and maintenance of the world's transportation and civil infrastructure.

Where we started

Turning point clouds into production deliverables.

TopoDOT began in 2011 when Ted Knaak founded Certainty 3D after decades in the LiDAR industry, including founding RIEGL USA in 1993. He saw a clear gap: teams could capture richer point cloud data than ever, but needed better CAD-based tools to extract accurate deliverables efficiently.

That gap led to the development of TopoDOT, our flagship point cloud processing software, and launched the company around a practical production mission. Today, TopoDOT Solutions has grown into a broader in-house team with software tools, consulting services, training, and support for survey, engineering, and transportation professionals around the world.

TopoDOT Solutions is focused on making point cloud data a primary geospatial component for planning, design, engineering, and maintenance. Our spring 2026 rebrand from TopoDOT to TopoDOT Solutions reflects that broader role across software, data governance, consulting, training, and support for survey data operations.
